Pinewood Derby Rules

1. The official car for the Southern California Pinewood derby will be the S&W Craft Derby Car. These will be the only cars allowed to compete.
(NO KIT CARS ALLOWED)

2. The cars must have the original wheels, screws and axles. The wheels can have their shape altered and you can also use more than one (dualies)

3. The official weight is 6 oz. If a car is light, you do have the option of adding weight.

4. Any car entered in the design category must be designed out of the original block. More than one block can be used. Plastic molds over a block will not be allowed. Cars which are worked on by both Cadet and Adult must have 80% of the work done by the CADET!! Head Counselors will be responsible for checking these cars.

5. No bearings, washers, spacers, or additional axle parts. Graphite and oil lubricants are allowed.

6. Plastic add on parts are allowed. (They might get knocked off at the finish line though)

7. There are no limits on height or length. The maximum width is 3 1/4 inches. The official track is a side rail track

8. The races are double elimination. Any car deemed "Turkey Track ready" will then be sent over (or set aside) to compete on the Turkey Track. There, the slowest car will be the winner, but it must cross the finish line.

9.Age Groups are:

Group A: Junior Cadets - 3rd Grade
Group B: 4th & 5th grades
Group C: 6th & 7th grades
Group D: 8th grade & up
Group E: Counselors Class

10. All cars must be built during the current Cadet Year.
